Why is there such a negative stigma against diversity in society?

I don't really have an answer to your question besides the fact that society today is messed up and seems to gravitate more towards the poster children of today than towards the real interesting individuals who are truly trying to shape and change the world. Buuuut, I would like to say that you seem like a really interesting person, and the people that judge you are just being, hate to say it, ignorant(:
